How does the process work?

In almost every case, we start with the free initial assessment. Either Erica or Megan will meet with you at your home (or office, if that´s where the attention is to be focused). We´ll spend between 45 minutes to an hour discussing your needs, touring the area, and coming up with a proposed plan of action. Meanwhile, this assessment is a time to find out if you feel comfortable with us. There is no risk to this assessment, and no hard feelings if you choose not to work with us. (Having said that, we´re LOTS of fun to work with!)

How long does the whole process take?

That depends on a number of factors: whether the problem is focused (i.e., "I want to reorganize my kitchen") or more generalized (i.e., "I´m being swallowed up by paperwork, books and magazines and don´t know how to get out from under it all.") If the problem is more focused, we´ll probably suggest a finite number of sessions and a deadline to get the task accomplished. More generalized situations often require an initial period to "get you out from under it" (using the example above), followed by a period during which we work together to design a system tailored to you to keep the situation from reaching that level again. That may or may not be followed by periodic "check ups" every few months.

How long is a session?

The minimum time for a session is two hours. But most sessions last three to four hours. In our experience, it´s at just about three hours that we settle into a rhythm and become exponentially more productive.

Will you make me throw everything away? home
This is probably the MOST frequently asked question from potential clients. The short answer is "No, our goal is not to make you throw everything away." However, we will want you to work with us on sorting through your things so that we can help YOU decide what you need to keep, what you want to keep, what you´re willing to let go of, and why. This is a process. Our objective is for everyone to gain understanding into the reasons underlying these decisions.
